FRIDAY, May 27th is our FINAL incentive trip of the year. We will be taking the students to SKATELAND on that Friday. The deadline to qualify for the end-of-the-year incentive was Tuesday, May 17th. Students must have NO Ds or Fs as overall grades, NO unserved detention time, and NO DRs for the 4th quarter.
The cost for entry is $3.00 with an additional $3.00 needed for skate rental. (Those students wishing to rent speed skates will need an additional $4.00 instead of $3.00 for skate rental.) Laser tag will also be available for an additional $4.00 per game. The snack area will be open and concessions available. However, this will be a morning field trip, and we will be back at school in time for lunch. Therefore, snacks are optional and also require additional money.
Again, please be aware that any additional money for games/food will be your child’s responsibility.
Permission slips are REQUIRED for students to attend this field trip as it is, technically, “out of town.” (Savoy) Please look for these permission slips to come home with your child this FRIDAY, MAY 20th.
What a wonderful afternoon!
We LOVE track and field day. It is so encouraging to see our students put forth so much effort and finish the task they set out to complete. We also love the camaraderie of everyone involved and the high-energy of the atmosphere.
We are so thankful each year to see so many parents, grandparents, friends, and youth pastors come out to support our students. It is such a special event for them, and we know it means a great deal to have your presence and support.
We would also like to thank you for your willingness to send water and snacks for our classes. It really adds to our day and wouldn’t be the same without your help!
Students will be receiving ribbons for 1st through 6th place in each event, so please be looking for these great mementos to come with your students.
Thanks again for all your support in making this wonderful event possible and enjoyable for our students!
TUESDAY, May 3rd is 6th grade Track and Field Day. Students will be eating a very early lunch from 10:20-10:50am. Homeroom teachers will pick up their class from the cafeteria and walk them directly outside to the High School track.
Track and Field Day is outdoors ALL afternoon. In previous years it has been sunny and very warm. We suggest you send your student to school with suncreen on that day.
We also ask parents to donate bottles of water and healthy snacks to their student’s HOMEROOM class as students are often thirsty and in need of a snack after all that running and hard work! Concessions are also available for extra food and snacks if you wish to send money with your child. Please bear in mind that they will be responsible for any money sent with them.
Please feel free and welcome to come out and watch our Track and Field Day events. It is one of the BEST days of the school year. The students really enjoy themselves, and it is wonderful to see so many excel outside the classroom walls.

TUESDAY, May 31st will be our GAME DAY at the PARK, end-of-the-year event. More details will follow on this wonderful outdoor celebration.
The $2.00 cost for the Centennial musical production of GREASE is due TODAY. However, some students are still unpaid — this is OKAY. Please send your child’s $2.00 with them to school NO LATER than THIS FRIDAY MORNING.
Thanks for your support of our field trip opportunities and Centennial’s Performing Arts programs.
Fourth quarter is underway here at Jefferson Middle School. This means that we need students to be focused, still “timed-in”, and refreshed on their school materials. It also means that we have a lot on our agenda! First up is the CENTENNIAL MUSICAL production of Grease! The 6th grade will be attending on Friday, April 8th from approximately 9am-11am. Each student needs to bring $2.00 to help support the cost of the production. Money is due to your child’s HOMEROOM teacher by next Wednesday, April 6th. Cash only, please. Thanks for your support and help!
A few years ago, our grade level started planning incentives to reward those students who are always doing what they should be doing and honor them for being great!
Below is the schedule for the rest of the year. “Grade Book CLOSES” is when we will have the cut off for making the incentive or not. The student will have time until that date to get all of their missing assignments in and retake any major grades.
Our next incentive is scheduled for December 10th. The students will be allowed to bring mp3 players and other hand-held electronics. NO CELL PHONES! (sorry)
Requirements for ALL incentives are the following:
INCENTIVE for 2nd Quarter: Game, Movie, and Music Day!
INCENTIVE for 3rd Quarter: SKATELAND!
INCENTIVE for 4th Quarter MIDTERM: Coupons/Passes!
INCENTIVE for 4th Quarter (Final): SKATELAND!
We hope that ALL of our students will be eligible for these incentives. If not, students who do not meet requirements will be in “work rooms” with one or two teachers. This allows students to make-up missing work and take care of major grades before the grading period closes. We appreciate your support in encouraging our students and praising them for their success!
Thursday and Friday, November 18th and 19th, will be our “benchmark” testing days.
What is benchmark testing? The benchmarks are a practice for the ISAT. It gives students (and teachers!) an opportunity to have a feel for what testing will look like and feel like come March of next year.
The benchmark also provides data about which areas of our curriculum need further focus, which students need further support, and which areas are strong and successful.
Please help your child to get a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast on these days. Studies have proven that these extra steps do help increase alertness, memory recall, and performance. Plus, it helps your child to feel less stressed!
We have several reasons to celebrate as we have fully transitioned from 1st quarter into 2nd quarter.
Parent-Teacher Conferences went supremely well. We were so happy to meet you and appreciate your time, participation, and support of your child’s education. Please remember you can contact us at any time via email or by phone.
OurELA classes’ Wax Museums have been a great success! Our students have worked hard to research, write, and prepare a speech to perform (in costume!) as the person they have studied. We have really enjoyed their hard work and are so proud of their efforts.
Mr. Butler’s Egypt Museum was also a tremendous success. The projects completed by our students this year were outstanding! So much hard-work and effort and an abudance of creativity! From pyramids to weapons to food to sphinx to jewelry… you name it, we saw it!
Congratulations to all of our students for their hard work. Congratulations to you, their parents and guardians, for your support. We are so thankful to have such a wonderful group.
Greetings!
I apologize that it has been awhile since we have updated our team website. Truth be told, the link was not in a reasonable place for me to find it, see it, and remember to update. I will do better in the future!
